Jacob's Story

As a fifth-generation business owner, I have had the unique opportunity to watch my family turn their dreams into a career. From farming to hospitality, the craft of working with our hands and building relationships with others has been deeply embedded in who I am today. My experience in the trade of carpentry began when I was young, working for my dad. He has taught me many things from reading a tape measure to making cuts with various saws. Most importantly, he taught me how to work hard and with integrity.

After graduating high school, I attended the University of North Dakota. During my time there I struggled to understand what career I should go into. I knew I wanted to help others, but was unsure of how. I eventually decided upon a Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation and Human Services. With this degree, I planned to work in Human Services helping to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

After several years of this line of work, I began to feel professional burnout. I tried several career changes, but was unable to regain my balance. I decided to take a step back and assess my dreams and passions. I remember sitting on the couch with my wife, Abbie, at a loss of what could be my next field of work. That is when I looked out the window and saw a construction crew building a house across the field.

This got my mind rolling. I have always loved working with my hands and learning about home remodeling. I remember looking over at my wife and saying "I think I want to work in construction". It didn’t take long after that before I took the jump. I have now spent several years in the field working toward a better understanding of materials and techniques. Every job has highs and lows, but I have found a line of work that suites me well.

I took the leap in the summer of 2021 and started Jacob's Ladder, LLC. It has been a dream of mine since I was young to develop and grow a business that embodies my values and passions. I thoroughly enjoy researching and learning more about new construction techniques and product information. Each home I step into is a privilege and to be considered for your home renovation is the highest responsibility. The work I do sets your home up for the future. I take this very seriously and desire to provide the highest quality of work.

Thank you for considering Jacob's Ladder, LLC for your next home project!

Sincerely,

Jacob Hays
